Very good food. Best price on lunches specials, about $6-9 that includes rice and soup or egg roll.
I've been coming to this restaurant for decades. It's one of my favorites. The updates are fine, but nothing to write home about. I can count on decent quality Chinese American food when dining in and the wait staff knows me so they are always extra pleasant with me.
Terrible gave my girlfriend shrimp eggrolls ahtervshe explicitly told them she was allergic. Never going back
Good food & service. My favorite is the Mango Beef.
Love the backed fish! The taste is very authentic and good price too! The server is very nice too! Thank you!
The place was empty went we entered, we ordered a Peking roasted duck and a shrimp spicy hot pot with mixed vegetables.Wait time was a bit long especially since we are the only table, but understandable since Peking roast duck takes longer time to prepare.Flavor was good. Duck was crispy, the shrimp hot pot was good as well. Our food taste very authentic and close to what we can get in China. We definitely go back again.
Their grilled fish is nice.
Nice atmosphere, good service, good lunch specials
Im really picky about my Chinese food and tend to be disappointed by the selection in Ann Arbor... But I have to say, I was very pleasantly surprised by my dinner from hot pot Chen tonight! The wonton soup was flavorful, the fried pork dumplings were savory with a nice gingery bite, and the hunan chicken was really good. Way better than I’ve had around here previously. Notably, the peppers, broccoli, snap peas, and mushrooms were all extremely fresh, the chicken was tender and not at all like the rubbery chicken I’ve had elsewhere, and the sauce was excellent - not greasy, not too salty. I will be back :) Also - I never review restaurants...This was unprecedented and hopefully it conveys my excitement!!
I visited yesterday for the first time. It was at 3:00, dead. The waitress was more interested in working with the manager than the only person in the restaurant (late on filling my water and visiting me while eating). The food was okay. Decent serving. A little overpriced. Most things were $12.95 and up. You did get some "chips" and orange sauce.
Excellent food and some less common and unique dishes. I love the sesame cold noodle appetizer
Luch meal. Suspect chef must be Chinese. Food was well spiced. Flavors are very clear and rich. Soup broths for wonton and egg drop were excellent. All meals were hot and served with great care. Pan fried dumplings were served upsidedown! Showing great care and pride as it keeps the crispy bottoms from getting soggy. We will be back!
If your looking for hot pot you won't find it here. Tea was cold. Food is nothing special. Any Chinese take out is better..
Great lunch specials!
Food was great! Love the spicy crab. The owner is super nice. Will visit again
Excellent food at reasonable prices.
For a shrimp, beef, and Chicken dish. Also pot stickers and crab Rangoon. Everything was excellent. Service was prompt. Will return.
Very delicious, just like in China. We like it!
We are there last Saturday Night. Crazy busy, but the waitress did a awesome job serving us. Food was amazing!!! Spicy crab is my favorite! I don't think i can find anything close to it in MI. Fish hot pot is great too. You have a lot choice of side added into it. Definitely a perfect spot to recommend~
Located next to noodels and co. Large parking lot. Good food and menu options. Lunch specials, large portions. Dining area has decorations. Friendly staff. Best Mai Tai in town!
Absolute junk. I ordered from this restaurant through door dash. Ordered beef with basil earthenpot. Menu did not specify spicy. What I received was beef with hot dried peppers. Called the restaurant. I thought they gave me the wrong item. Did not. They said it was the Chinese version of basil.
I had a spicy noodle soup that was amazing! The food here is delicious and the cocktails are also not too shabby. I would definitely recommend!
The delicious Sichuan chili pot is my jam! Also the tiki drinks are delightful and very affordable.
The outside might not look very appealing but the food is delicious! Could stand to have the decor spruced up a bit but again the service is quick if you're in a hurry and the portions are generous. Give it a try!
Very busy and slow service. Waited about an hour before a server took our orders. Doesn't actually serve hot pot. The food was good, though
Used to go here when it was Gourmet Garden. For over 20 years my Son and I went there for lunch. Great food and wonderful staff. Last time we went to this Hot Pot Chen the young waitress ignored us. Was rude and the food was terrible. Never again. Pretty sad.
Great service, great food. Spring rolls and Kung Po chicken was delicious!
We’ve driven past Hot Pot Chen for years, always talking about stopping in but never quite getting there. I have to say it really is some of the better asian food we’ve discovered in Ann Arbor. Service was great, food excellent, and portions large enough for a second meal the next day. Parking is not very convenient since the more trendy Noodle & Company moved next door, but Hot Pot Chen is worth the effort!
Decent chinese food!
Their real Chinese food is great , but you need pre-order. Otherwise you can only eat American style Chinese food there.
Its clean and the food is really good. I also found the prices attractive.
Food was great highly recommend the clay pots and dry chili pots
Horrible service. I have been here twice and both times the server has asked my wife what she wants and then walks away. Then when I order my food she argues about what I can order. Save your money and go somewhere where they get you what you want and that knows how to treat a customer.
I had good service this evening at Hot Pot Chen on Stadium Boulevard in Ann Arbor. The waitress mixed our sesame noodles appetizer right at the table, for us. And at the end of the meal, she boxed up all of the leftover food without spilling a morsel. I appreciate that. In between we enjoyed good food and conversation in one of the most beautiful dining rooms outside of the downtown area. I love the pan-fried string beans, the sizzling teriyaki chicken, and the twice cooked pork. I’ll be back to try more.
One star because the rice was good! The egg and spring rolls were cold, and the chicken and beef were chewy. The waitress was extremely aggressive, barking at people to make their order. We were told no lunch specials even thou it was 1:30 and it clearly states lunch is from 11-3 everyday. Water glasses were dirty, and had things floating in them. When we told her, she seemed annoyed about it. Unless you're ordering rice, I suggest finding any of the other many restaurants around. Way over priced for your portions.
The Best Chinese restaurant hands down! Try the Treasure delight! A stuffed baby eggplant with seafood. Excellent.Staff are very nice also!
The food is delicious . Staff is friendly. Very nice dining room. And they still serve lunch specials on Sundays , a lot of other Chinese restaurants do not.
My mom and I love the Vegetarian Paradise dish. Great variety, always fresh and delicious.
Amazing Chinese for. First visit was better than expected.
A very solid option for Chinese food in Ann Arbor. While the exterior is nothing to marvel about, the restaurant's interior is large and well appointed. The service is very friendly, and the food hits the spot. You won't regret the decision to go there.
The fish hotpot was pretty good! Liked it!
Cam4 for dinner and I was more than impressed with delicious food and 5 star service. I will bring friends along during my next visit. Recommended.
Excellent food good staff
Food was excellent!! Great service!! Love this restaurant.
Best and cheapest Chinese lunch special in town. Consistently find myself coming back for the sesame beef! Good service
Authentic Chinese food. Highly recommend spicy crab if you like spicy food. Will try fish hot pot next time.
Very good Chinese food, not too oily and the breaded meat dishes are big chunks of actual meat lightly breaded.
Delicious food, large portions and excellent service. Nice ambient atmosphere. Always clean. It's really one of the best Chinese restaurants in Ann Arbor.
Phenomenal Chinese for the A2 area! Mango Beef is legit
We were customers of Gourmet Garden. This restaurant is TERRIBLE. WE ordered the seafood soup and the sizzling rice seafood entree. There were few veggies and little sauce. Both had little flavor and had imitation crab not REAL CRAB. A good restaurant will tell their patrons if they use imitation crab and not the real thing. Our daughter is allergic to imitation crab which is made out of Pollack or any white fish of Alaska. Does this place want to risk a person's life. We are greatly disappointed with the new owners of this place on West Stadium in Ann Arbor. I called tonight and all they had to say was "okay". We will not return and you shouldn't either. There are other places near us that we will definitely try.
Fast great food. Not very expensive. Covid cleanliness. Ordered take out many times.
